Jordan Lewis is the Race Equality Advisor for the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). In this role, he oversees the Schools work on issues related to Race Equality including the upcoming institutional submission into the Advance HE Race Equality Charter. He also works within the EDI team to ensure the successful implementation of projects and work aimed at creating an equitable experience for staff, students studying with the School.
Jordan joined LSHTM form Advance HE where he was an adviser for the Equality Charters focusing on the Race Equality Charter and the Athena SWAN. In my time he worked with institution’s senior management teams and self-assessment teams to help them reflect on their position as an organisation when working to address racial inequalities and understand how they manifest in higher education. He also managed the peer review process and supported panellists to assess submissions, moderate the panel discussions and provide subsequent feedback and coaching to applicant institutions.
Prior to this, he held a career in students’ unions working on representation, student engagement, and advocacy as well as running an independent advice centre. He spent 3 years working at Middlesex University Students’ union where he led a review to create a more inclusive student engagement structure across the institution.
